June is Pride Month and mental health charity - Mind- has created a resource for LGBTIQ+ people who struggle with their mental health.

Being LGBTIQ+ does not cause mental health problems. But some things you may go through as an LGBTIQ+ person can negatively impact your mental health.

    These may include:

    • Homophobia, biphobia and transphobia
    • Experiences of stigma and discrimination
    • Difficult experiences of coming out
    • Social isolation, exclusion and rejection
    • Conversion therapy'.

You might also feel that other factors are more important for you. Or your mental health problems might have nothing to do with your LGBTIQ+ identity. The good news is that there is plenty of support available. For more information and tips on LGBTIQ+ mental health, visit Mind's website.

Pink Saltire is a charity based in Kirkcaldy and is Scotland’s community voice for LGBTI people of all age groups. It offers a counselling service for LGBTI people in Fife, as well as other services.
