    CISWO The Coal Mining Charity provide a personal welfare service to help improve the lives of former miners and their families.

    Their free and confidential services include:

    • A home visiting service to provide advice and support
    • Assistance with welfare benefits and compensation schemes
    • Support to reduce loneliness and social isolation
    • Support during illness and disability, including access to mobility equipment
    • Emotional support including loss and bereavement, illness and caring responsibilities
    • Financial assistance through CISWO grants or assistance from other agencies
    • Access to holidays and convalescence
    • Access to CISWO educational grants for former mineworkers and their dependents
