  • Fire safety in the home - online self-assessment checker

    Created: 18/10/2020, Updated: 19/10/2020

A new online Home Fire Safety Visit (HFSV) checker has been launched by the Scottish Fire Rescue Service (SFRS) to support people to stay safe at home.

The online HFSV self-assessment survey asks a series of simple questions and then automatically generates a home fire safety report for them. This online self-assessment ensures that homeowners receive bespoke advice and triages those most at risk of having a fire within their home for a physical HFSV.

This interactive tool and approach is the first positive step towards the SFRS Safe & Well programme that will be launched next year. It is seen as a way of reducing the demand on the visits SFRS conducts by providing lower risk occupiers with advice; thus negating the requirement to undertake a physical visit unless the occupier is high risk.
