Prescription Delivery and Shopping Support service to close in August
Created: 24/07/2020Since the pandemic lockdown, FVA and Fife Council's Helping Hand service has provided emergency and other frontline support to more than 8,500 Fifers to help cope with the effects of the crisis. We're very proud of the work we've been able to do, with partners, and delighted with how this service has fared over this time and would again like to thank everyone who has been involved in this project.
As the COVID-19 infection rate continues to fall in Scotland, the increasing relaxation of restrictions, and with the Scottish Government's advice on shielding due to change by 31 July, we are cautiously confident that we can scale back on some of our Helping Hand services.
Therefore, we will formally close our Prescription Delivery service on Saturday 15 August and our Shopping Support service on Friday 28 August 2020.
Our helpline will continue to operate 7 days a week (09:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday and 09:00 - 12:00 at weekends). We will continue to provide support where we can to help people manage through the longer-term ramifications of this crisis. This includes offering telephone befriending and other types of support.
