Help for school children and low-income families
Created: 24/06/2020, Updated: 25/06/2020Although schools aren’t currently open to pupils due to COVID-19, Fife Council is encouraging families on low incomes to apply for free school meals and help towards buying school clothing. The Council are paying parents/guardians of children who would normally be entitled to a school dinner £11.50 per week, per child. These payments will continue to be paid over the summer holidays, with discussions ongoing about the arrangements once schools go back in August, and payments will be paid to parents/guardians of pupils in Primaries 1 – 3 if they receive free school milk.
The council has automatically re-awarded grants to over 7,000 pupils and has written to around 5,000 more families identified as being eligible, to let them know they can now apply for these grants for the 2020-21 financial year.
To find out if you’re entitled to this help and to apply online visit Fife Council's school benefits webpage.
