    This event is free to attend but to encourage attendance and try and ensure a good turnout to benefit all delegates, we will charge a non-attendance fee of £100.00 per delegate. By submitting a booking for this event you agree to pay this fee for those delegates who have places booked but do not attend.

    Cancellations can be received up to 5 working days ahead of the event, thus avoiding non-attendance fees. A cancellation will only be valid if we have confirmed it with you. You can send somebody else in place of a booked delegate without incurring a non-attendance fee.

    Who should attend?  People who work in lower-hazard environments or where HSE guidelines indicate staff should be trained and hold a certificate in emergency first aid at work.

    Course Content Includes:

    • The role of the first aider;
    • Communicating with a casualty;
    • Contents of first aid kits (and avoiding cross-infection);
    • Recording of incidents and accidents;
    • Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
    • How to administer First Aid to a casualty who:
      • is unconscious;
      • requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the safe application of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
      • is choking;
      • is in shock; and/or
      • is wounded or bleeding (this includes dealing with: minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns & scalds, small splinters).

    Casual, comfortable clothes should be worn. Lunch will be provided - please let us know of any dietary requirements.

    To be eligible for qualification candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline, and must attend the full day session.

    Accreditation Award:  Emergency First Aid at Work certificate valid for 3 years and rated at SCQF Level 6.

    Availability is limited to 12 places. We reserve the right to restrict the number of attendees from any one organisation on this course.

    A minimum number of candidates is required for this course to run.  FVA reserves the right to cancel this course if the minimum number is not met seven days prior to the course date.
