Created: 15/05/2019, Updated: 24/05/2019Technology changes at such a rapid rate that it’s difficult to keep up - especially when IT isn’t your main job role. In our sector, we don’t always have the budget or the resources to bring in regular external IT support, but we often don’t have the know-how to do it ourselves either. That can cause problems - when not properly looked after, IT systems represent a point of weakness, vulnerable to hacks and other external attacks.
A successful cyber-attack or IT failure can have catastrophic consequences for any third sector organisation - financially, operationally, and reputationally. It's therefore essential to make a concerted effort to ensure that your organisation is as well-informed about cyber security issues as it can possibly be.
This introductory workshop is designed to improve awareness and understanding in the third sector of basic cyber security principles. Attendees will leave feeling more confident in their ability to understand basic security concepts, and better equipped to deal with a cyber-attack.
The course will feature interactive elements, and will cover topics including:
Who should attend?
This course is open to all, but will be of particular relevance to trustees, staff and volunteers who work with computers but aren't in IT-related roles.
