This event is free to attend but to encourage attendance and try and ensure a good turnout to benefit all delegates, we will charge a non-attendance fee of £10.00 per delegate. By submitting a booking for this event you agree to pay this fee for those delegates who have places booked but do not attend.

Cancellations can be received up to 5 working days ahead of the event, thus avoiding non-attendance fees. A cancellation will only be valid if we have confirmed it with you. You can send somebody else in place of a booked delegate without incurring a non-attendance fee.

It is too late to book a place for this particular session, sorry about that.

Being a trustee/committee member can be tricky at times.  Thankfully, most of the time it isn't tricky at all, and it can be very enjoyable and rewarding.

So, what should you do when it gets tricky?  What are the early signs to look out for, before things get too problematic?  What sort of skills and techniques should good trustees be using?  What are the big issues out there that trustees should be mindful of?

Get answers to all these, and more!  For free!

FVA is delighted to announce a special, Meet the Experts event for trustees during Volunteers' Week this year.  We've assembled a panel of experts on governance, employment law and HR, audit and finance, and digital technology.

You'll hear from each expert about the big issues they think you should be thinking about and then have an opportunity to put your questions to the panel of experts (a bit like Question Time, but nothing like Question Time if you're a lawyer with the BBC).

The event takes place early evening, a 5.30 start, and will finish at 7pm.  Feel free to stay a bit longer and have some nibbles and light refreshments, network with other trustees and panel members, and perhaps follow up on some interesting things you heard during the panel session.  FVA staff will also be on hand to help provide any follow-up support you might need.

Places are free, and on a first-come-first-served basis.  We'll limit it to 2 places per organisation to ensure as many organisations as possible can benefit.
