    This half day course will equip practitioners with the skills and confidence to identify male victims of domestic abuse and respond appropriately, with a focus on safe working practice. This course will provide an overview of some of the challenges, for both service users and for frontline services. The course will be delivered by Aaron Slater (Service Manager, Fearless). Fearless is a support service for any man or any LGBTI+ person experiencing domestic abuse. Aaron has been working with this client group for the past 7 years.

    The aim of this short course is to raise awareness of how services can respond to men presenting as victims of domestic abuse. By the end of the training participants will:

    • Understand how a gendered analysis of domestic abuse applies to male victims;
    • Understand men's experience of domestic abuse;
    • Overcome some of the barriers to engaging male victims in services;
    • Respond appropriately to men who disclose domestic abuse and use local pathways to support;
    • Identify and respond to perpetrators who present as victims.

    Please note: Lunch is not being provided. If you are not a council employee and would like to book a place at this seminar, please fill in the application below and return it to [email protected].
