Bikeworks is looking for an enthusiastic, positive individual(s) with a passion for cycling and sustainability to enable the Board to take Bikeworks to the next level.
Bikeworks is based in Glenrothes and is involved in recycling/refurbishing donated bicycles and selling these at affordable prices to the least affluent in our community, whilst providing training to people with disabilities and long-term unemployment.
Bikeworks attracts volunteers from all walks of life and prides itself on being an inclusive organisation - a great environment for a new Board member to flourish and know that they are making a difference.
This is a real opportunity to make a difference to the environment and those individuals / groups who ordinarily would not have access to the benefits of cycling. As a Board Member you will have the opportunity to shape the strategy Bikeworks follows by participating in a forum that is open to new ideas, with the common goal to continue its success as a community-based charity run with a professional business-like approach.
No details were provided about the training made available to volunteers. Please contact us to find out more.

Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!
Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
