About this opportunity:North East Fife District Scouts is an active youth organisation that provides a wide range of opportunities for young people across North East Fife. We are part of Scouts Scotland, and have Groups in: Auchtermuchty, Balmullo, Ceres, Cupar, East Neuk, Freuchie, Kinshaldy, Newport, Tayport and St Andrews. We are dedicated to helping young people develop skills for life in a fun and supportive environment. Our Groups offer opportunities for young people aged 4 to 25 across our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, and Network Sections.

Scouting is fun, brings people together, celebrates diversity and stands against intolerance. By volunteering with us, you’ll be helping young people develop confidence, resilience, and essential life skills. Scouts is about adventure, teamwork, and learning through experience, and your guidance will inspire them to grow into capable, responsible individuals who contribute positively to society.

Beyond shaping young lives, your efforts will strengthen our local communities. Scouting brings people together, fosters a spirit of service, and creates a supportive environment where young people feel valued. Your involvement helps ensure that these opportunities continue for generations to come.

And you’ll benefit too! Joining one of our Teams is a chance to learn new skills, meet like-minded people, and experience the joy of seeing young people flourish. Whether it’s learning leadership, outdoor skills, or simply having fun, you’ll find it a rewarding journey.

Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!

Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
