    Opportunity

About this opportunity:This is a thriving charity, used by over 150 people per week, run by a committee of volunteers, and employing an office manager and a caretaker. Being part of the team is rewarding, fun, and sometimes challenging!

Activities for all ages include sports, exercise, crafts, and lunch clubs.

The Centre supports an increasing number of services addressing mental health and welfare issues by engaging vulnerable individuals in social and other activities. It also hosts a food bank.

There is a phenomenal buzz when you come through the doors of the Centre. As a trustee you are brought into contact with all ages, making a contribution that directly impacts the community.

The main responsibility of the role is to supervise the Centre's day-to-day financial operations.

Takes place:Please contact us to find out when this opportunity takes place.
Training provided:The trustees work as a close team. New trustees will be provided with written information on the running of the Charity, and will be able to meet current trustees as much as needed to go through the workings of the Centre. Specific information will be provided on each particular role/skill. All questions will be welcomed. We do not have the capacity to provide training, but would direct any new trustee who wished to have training to look at the FVA website.
Experience required:An accountancy background, though useful, is not essential. A feel for numbers and an organised approach are more important than a technical qualification.

    Restrictions on who can volunteer
    No restrictions were specified.

Application process:Informal Chat; PVG membership required; Trial Period

Travel DetailsTrustee meetings are in person at Auchtermuchty Community Centre, 1 Distillery Street, Newburgh Road, Auchtermuchty KY14 7BY. In some roles, much of the activity can be done at home. However, it is very valuable to be able to drop into the Centre from time to time.

Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!

Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
